Letter from the President

Dear NDCOC Members:

"I knew that it was now or never, those were the best days of my life… back in the summer of ’69." – Bryan Adams

"Pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme, and put your car on cruise and lay back cause this is summertime" – Will Smith

Summer means different things to different people. When we were younger, summer was a glorious 3 months with no school or responsibility. Now it’s the hot time during the year where we need to crank the AC in the car before we head to work. But I like to remind everyone that to a select few, it symbolizes a new beginning. Please help us welcome our 30 new enrolled students to the class of 2012… and congratulate our graduating seniors and new alumni of the class of 2008. We wish them all the best of luck… we’re so proud of all of you!

Below I’ve highlighted just a few of our most recent events and upcoming events. Please continue to visit our website for the most up-to-date information on these and future activities.

Faley Games
On May 2nd, ten club members participated in Cal State Fullerton’s 23rd Annual Faley Games for developmentally disabled athletes. They joined over 3,700 volunteers and 3,500 athletes for a morning of sports related activities followed by a picnic lunch.

OC Golf Classic 2008
On July 7th the Black Gold Country Club in Yorba Linda hosted our annual golf tournament. The funds we raised through tee fees, sponsorships and our silent auction will go primarily toward scholarships for our current students. It will also help us continue to sponsor six students who volunteer their summer to provide valuable labor and service to charitable organizations within Orange County. A special thank you goes to Chris Tomko and his family for working so hard to make this event happen each year.

Family Picnic & Send-off
We’d like to invite you to join us at Irvine Regional Park in Orange on Sunday, July 27th. This is a chance for alumni, students and club members to meet our Summer Service Students and the newest members of the Notre Dame Family, the Class of 2012. Mass will begin at 11 AM, followed by a BBQ lunch at 12 PM. Please see the website for additional details and a parking pass.

NDCOC Annual Meeting
Our Annual Meeting has been scheduled for 11 AM on September 6th at Silky Sullivan’s in Fountain Valley. The meeting is scheduled 90 minutes prior to the ND vs. San Diego State game and will conclude in time for kick-off. All club members are invited to come down and meet newly elected Board Members and Club Officers. Appropriate business items supported by at least seven members in good standing may be submitted to the Club Secretary for inclusion as an agenda item no less than seven days before the Annual Meeting.

I hope to see you at our upcoming events. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email. Have a fantastic summer and Go Irish!
