NDCOC Online Payments
Welcome to the ND Club of Orange County Online Payments Information Page. This page was created to describe the
process put in place to ensure that payments made online to the ND Club of Orange County are secure.
Since the ND Club of Orange County is a non-profit organization, we decided to use a service provided by
VeriSign, Inc.®, one of the world's most trusted online processing
corporations. VeriSign® allows us to collect the membership information we need from you on our own site, and then
transfer you to a secure page that is maintained by VeriSign® when it comes time to enter credit card information. All
secure credit card information is processed through the VeriSign® page, which checks to make sure your credit card
is valid and the amount due can be charged to it. A temporary authorization will be made by the bank with which your
credit card is held for the amount owed. VeriSign® then returns you back to NDCOC.com and lets our site know that your
payment was accepted. You will see a receipt when you return to the NDCOC.com page that you can print out for your
records. You will also receive email verifications for both your membership information and your payment. Our bank
will then process the payment and transfer the funds from your account to ours just as they would if you write us a
personal check.
To make a long story short, we leave the sensitive credit card processing to the professionals whose business it is to
provide secure Internet processing!
Since no credit card numbers are EVER stored or processed by the Notre Dame Club of Orange County Website or are EVER
entered into our database, we do NOT
accept any responsibility for damages or fraud that may occur during online credit card transactions. At no time are
we ever given your credit card information by VeriSign® or any of the banks taking part in online transactions.
NEVER EMAIL YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION TO US OR ENTER IT IN FIELDS ON OUR MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION OR ANYWHERE
ELSE ON NDCOC.COM! The ONLY time you should enter credit card information for payment to us is when the URL in
your browser says https://payflowlink.verisign.com/payflowlink.cfm.
Here are some quick pointers for checking that a Website is secure before entering your credit card information:
- Make sure that the URL (or Web address) starts with https:// (note the "s" after http). This tells you the
Website is using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and encrypting the data you enter. If this is not present, then you can not be
sure that the data you are entering is encrypted.
- If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, you will see a small picture of a lock on either
the bottom right side of your browser or on the top toolbar. Make sure the lock is "locked" to let you know that a
secure connection has been established.
- Often your browser will display a pop-up box to let you know that you are about to access a secure connection. You
can disable this box from appearing, so it may not come up if you have disabled it.
If you are really unsure about entering your credit card, you can always call your credit card company and tell them
that you just charged a specific amount (tell them the amount) to a given company (tell them the company or Website),
and you would like them to put a "check" on that charge to make sure it does not go over that amount.
I hope this page has given you a little more information about online payments and how the ND Club of Orange County has
taken steps to ensure your credit card information is processed securely by utilizing VeriSign Inc.® to process all
Internet transactions. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Webmaster, The Webmaster.
